SNJ Architects were appointed by the developer/franchisee in December 2014, to assist in the delivery of one of the first drive-thru Starbucks café in Scotland, following their recent receipt of planning permission.

The stand-alone café is located on a prominent corner plot, leading to the main retail/leisure area of Fife Leisure Park, and will provide a high quality development to help expand the Starbucks brand in Scotland

Having received planning permission for the development via a local architectural practice using standard franchise drawings, in order to move the scheme forwards SNJ Architects had to develop multiple design solutions to accommodate the tighter requirements of Scottish regulations. All of this had to be achieved without reducing the net area of the internal floor space or varying the planning approved scheme. Both walls and roofs had to be designed to accommodate high levels of thermal efficiency, and the site adapted to suit existing level changes between neighbouring plots and across the site.

SNJ Architects have worked closely with other members of the design team to help deliver an efficient and effective scheme which meets the high demands of being part of the Starbucks franchise.
